McDonald's Big Arch "Product"

McDonald's is easily the most recognizable fast food place in the world. I would argue I could find someone on any continent in the world, and they would know what a McDonald's is. What's fun about them is sometimes they try to do something new. Now I read somewhere once that it is hard for them to do so, as the logistics are very complicated to execute for a chain that large. However, McDonald's decided to launch a new "product" for March 2026.

When I first heard of the rumors for a "Big Arch" burger in February 2026, I was curious. I thought about how Arby's tried to do something absolutely new with the Steak Nugget in October 2025, and that was an OK product. Infact, since then I have gotten the steak nuggets a few time since then, because it is an alright meal (even if its a little pricy). Photos would come out in late February of the size of the box it comes in, and how it dwarfs the Big Mac, I was interested. When it was finally announced it would come out on March 1st, I knew I needed to try it as soon as possible.

Using a poppy-seasame bun, featuring crispy onions, and using white cheddar cheese, the Big Arch is certianly something different from the other burgers McDonald's currently offers. I was eager to try the burger during my lunch on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026. Rolling up to the Sandusky McDonald's I was eager to try the Big Arch, and after I picked up my order, I sat down to enjoy my lunch....

...and its pretty salty. The burger is very filling, and the cheddar and crispy onions do add a great pop of new flavor to this product. It's a wide burger, not very tall, which I prefer for a burger. I do not wish to unhinge my jaw like a python snake to eat a burger. However, something in the burger was really salty. I did manage to eat the whole thing, but the flavor was too strong for me, and I didn't really like it.

When compared to the Arby's Steak Nuggets, I think I would get that more frequiently than the Big Arch. I find the flavor of the Steak Nuggets better compared to the flavor of the Big Arch, and with the Big Arch costing $13.10 after tax compared to the $9.81 I paid for the Steak Nuggets, I persoanlly feel the nuggets are a better price. I would consider the Big Arch again, just to see if I got unlucky with the burger being so new, but I have little hope

Lastly, you may have noticed I refered to the Big Arch as a product rather than a menu item or food. You see dear reader, McDonald's had the brightest decision to release a video of himself trying the burger, but doing so in an embarrassing way, by referring to it as a "product" and taking a really tiny bite out of it. I do not really understand why he did that, but it was funny.

The question everyone has is, Alex! Would you get the McDonald's Big Arch again? My answer is if it was less salty/strong tasting in certain aspects, I would definitely get it again. It is a very filling meal, and I do like how it tastes for the most part. However, I would not consider it at this time. I do think this will be successful, I just don't know if the Big Arch is a limited time item like the McRib. Of course, I attached pictures below, so please take a look.
